Santa Fe Railyard Park, USA

by Pentagram
2012

Pentagram collaborated with Smith and Schwartz on the signage and environmental graphic design for the Santa Fe Railyard Park, a new distric redevelopment from the historic train yards in Santa Fe.

Santa Fe Railyard Park has several scattered parks through out, bike trails, children’s playgrounds and picnic areas.

Pentagram’s graphics include wayfinding signage, interpretive panels, donor signage and a landmark identification sign installed on the massive water tank that is central to the park’s sophisticated natural irrigation system.

To achieve an unobtrusive but functional signs and graphics, they integrated them into existing elements such as benches and curbs. For signage on buildings, they matched them to existing materials and made them as light and transparent as possible. For when wayfinding was needed, it coordinates with the park’s visual language.
