Büro North was commissioned by the Port of Melbourne Corporation (POMC) to lead the design and installation of their Heritage Strategy around Melbourne’s historic port.
Working with Lovell Chen heritage consultants, we developed an interpretive signage package to lead users around the Port of Melbourne’s cycle trail, providing key historic information at 12 different rest stops.
Each rest stop is defined by a marker, the design of which encompasses salvaged timber and vitreous enameled graphics assembled around an imposing, faceted concrete base. The design response is intended to be virtually indestructible to withstand vandalism and the outdoor elements.
