Oxford Brookes Hoardings, UK

by Hat-Trick Design
2008

Brief: Oxford Brookes University is a premier learning and teaching institution with an outstanding research record.

A campaign was commissioned to mask building work informing students and staff about the regeneration to be completed in 2015. The ‘Space to Think’ initiative was formed to celebrate the great achievements of the University through it’s courses, staff, students and alumni.

Solution: The tree was used as an icon of learning and growth. Each tree is unique showing the diversity of the University. Also drawing a parallel to the leafy campus and the idea of setting down roots and establishing them for future generations. The scheme will run concurrently with the regeneration work. A collection of over 150 varieties of tree will be created – from print to sculpture.

We also wanted to utilise the existing trees on the leafy campus, so these are illuminated at night, marking out the area.
